While the PanAm distracts us, a more important debate happens at 100 Main West

Hamilton could soon have no public high schools in our lower city from the Downtown Core to nearly the Red Hill Valley – a 7km distance.

Gone already is Scott Park high school, and soon to disappear could be Delta High School and Parkview Secondary.

The lost of both secondary schools will deal a devastating blow to hopes of reviving some of Hamilton’s poorest neighbourhoods.

The lost of Parkview, with its unique programs and atmosphere will be especially devastating.

Secondary School ARCs (Accommodation Review Committee) will be meeting at the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board offices Tuesday September 6th in the evening from 6pm until 9pm.

I won’t be able to attend, but do plan to start covering the ARCs in some depth this coming year. This will be the biggest news story of the coming year.
