On August 16 I [announced that I had to shut down](https://www.thepublicrecord.ca/2015/08/from-the-editor-the-public-record-suspends-operations-thanks-patrons-for-support/) The Public Record.

The outpouring of support since then is overwhelming and one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. I started to write a post that evening thanking you for your support and outlining my thoughts on what is next for me.

Each day since, things have changed and my thoughts on what’s next for me continue to evolve. When I complete a draft, things change (thankfully always for the better), and then I discard the post. There’s never going to be a perfect time to post, or perfect post to share.

As City Council created a legal mess with their use of municipal law against The Public Record, I have to be very guarded with my public comments at this time.

All I can ask is for you to trust how I’m handling these matters and to trust that I’m maintaining the professionalism and accuracy that you’ve come to expect from me. I’m hopeful that this matter will resolve properly and the truth will become known.

I cannot thank everyone enough for supporting me at this difficult time and for all your assistance, encouragement, and support.

I will announce details in the next 48 hours about an event I’m planning to celebrate what we’ve achieved with The Public Record and to share with you – at the event – my plans for the future.

Thank you again,

– Joey
