Troubled Rental Home in Rosedale Getting Fixed - Brought to Attention on Reddit This Summer

A rental home in Rosedale that came to wide public attention this summer after the plight of its citizens was highlighted on the local Reddit subforum in July is getting fixed up.

The Reddit thread caught the attention of The Hamilton Spectatorwho covered the story in some depth.

The home, 791 Lawrence Rd in the Rosedale Neighbourhood, was subject to a Property Standards hearing at City Hall.

The hearing was quickly adjourned, the owner and City have reached an agreement to complete repairs to the property by April 30, 2014.

The owner, whom the City did not identify – the house was for sale in August -, was at the Landlord and Tenant Board on October 21, 2013. The outcome of this hearing is unknown, as the documents are not immediately available.

This is not the first time the property was issued an order from the City. TheSpec’s research found another order in January 2012.

Hopefully, we’ll learn how the tenants are being taken care of. That was not subject of today’s hearing.
