Hamilton police are seeking public assistance finding a vehicle involved in a fail to remain incident that left a 89-year-old cyclist in serious but stable condition in hospital.

At 9:10 PM on Wednesday, July 4, an 89-year-old cyclist was riding south on Grays Road North near Highway 8 (Queenston Road), when a black Nissan with silver trim, also heading southbound, hit the cyclist and knocked him to the ground. The vehicle “sped off” through the intersection at Highway 8 (Queenston Road) and did not return.

If you know anything about this and can provide any information about the driver, no tip is insignificant or unimportant. Please contact Hamilton Police Division 2 at 905-546-2907 or call anonymously Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).

Note: Highway 8 is more commonly known as Queenston Road until about Grays Rd. Street numbers along Highway 8/Queenston Rd are continuous across the former municipal boundary.  I’ve placed the name in parentheses to assist in determining location and to avoid confusion with “Old Highway 8” King Street.
