FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

****Sherman Cut to close on Saturday for street light repair

****HAMILTON, ON – March 21, 2012 –The City of Hamilton’s Public Works Department will close the Sherman Cut (between Crockett Street and the Sherman Access) this Saturday, March 24th in order to safely facilitate the replacement of a street lighting pole that has deteriorated significantly and is being held up solely by traffic signal wires.  The road will close at 8:00 a.m. and is expected to reopen by 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.  The Sherman Access from Kenilworth to Charlton will remain open.

The work involves the removal of the damaged pole, the installation of a new pole and electrical work to replace the signal wires for the Sherman Access lane controls.  While unrelated to the street light repair work, Public Works roads crews will take advantage of the closure by performing further visual inspections of the escarpment face.

The Public Works Department thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation as we work to complete this repair.
