I will be reading the StatsCan Daily from last Thursday: http://www.statscan.ca/Daily/English/070208/d070208a.htm entitled Study: Why are youth from lower-income families less likely to attend university?
Being from a low income background, then foster care, then self-supporting before University, I have a personal interest in this. Further, I spent many years volunteers at the Hamilton East Kiwanis Boys’ and Girls’ Club. Out of the group of 12 people I hung around with as an early teen, none of the others are in University primarily, I believe, because of the barriers that we all faced.
