Add another project to the long list of not completed even close to on time.

The rebuild of the City’s Green Acres outdoor pool will be at least a year late. The pool closed at the end of the 2012 season and was scheduled to open in June 2014.

In a press release just before 4pm Monday – a day sandwiched between a weekend and a holiday Tuesday – the City wrote:
“Residents are advised that the Green Acres Pool will remain closed for the 2014 season due to construction.”

“The project is expected to be completed for the 2015 summer season.”

“The City of Hamilton thanks the community for their patience and cooperation as we complete the redevelopment project,” wrote the City in a press release announcing the delay.

The project is budgeted at $2.6-million and includes a spray pad. The new pool will be fully accessible and replace a 56-year-old pool.
