The City of Hamilton does not public any sub-committee documents on its website. This is a city practice that is rigidly enforced – even the so-called “Accountability and Transparency Sub-Committee” refuses to publish these public documents.
Instead, the City provides the contact information to request the documents from the Clerk’s office – creating an unnecessary and blatant barrier to access and engagement. This is a direct contradiction of the city’s stated vision statement.
To encourage the City to start posting on the Internet, I’ll request and post every sub-committee agenda to Google Docs.
Friday, I emailed the City Clerk and Deputy City Clerk requesting the agendas and all attached documentation. The clerks office quickly responded to my email by providing the agendas in their entirety.
