Ball Packaging – Great Community Givers

I have started a new category on my blog: HatTip.
What is a HatTip?
Simple, it is the blog lingo for acknowledging a good deed, idea, or referral.
This one is for Ball Packaging. Ball Packaging is a can factory located off of the QEW in Burlington, Ontario. It is an interesting factory. I have been there on numerous occasions and look forward to go back to visit when I return to Hamilton. Ball Packaging is one of the biggest, if not the single largest, per capita supporters of the United Way campaign. These blue-collar workers are amazing. I have gotten to know many of them and they are really good down-to-earth hard working people. They toured the Boys’ and Girls’ Club this past October and increased their donations to the United Way again this year. They also give to a different charity every month. Every December they give to St. Matthew’s House on Barton Street East, this after they toured St. Matthew’s House in the Fall of 2003. This year they were supported by a military unit. A Student and a Passport Application

Alright, I have a friend (Friend A) who is helping another friend (Friend B) fill out his passport application. So A asks B: “Name” and B gives his full name, then A asks B: “Address” and B gives his home address, then (remember this is a Passport Application) “Number” and B gives his University Student Number….

Picture of the Day – 30 Dec 04

A Picture from my meeting of the Circle K Club Executive on Tuesday. We had the meeting at the Bannatyne Campus of the University of Manitoba. The building is just amazing for the amount of sunlight that enters the building. From this picture, you would think that I was near the window but I am actually in the centre of the building. I will now go there for coffee on Mon, Weds, and Fri instead of 204 University Centre so that I get more sunlight while drinking my coffee and reading my books.

A Perfect Winter Day Today

I just walked across campus from St. Andrew’s College to Tache Hall. It was a great walk! I have taken a ton of pictures for my blog that you will see from the 4th of Jan till about the 20th. I think I am going to take a walk down at the Forks now to get some pictures there!
Hoaw, I am loving Christmas Break this year!

Picture Of The Day – 27 Dec 04

My camera is really bad at night when there is snow because of the autofocus always trying to focus on the snow. While, this is the front of St. Paul’s College at The University of Manitoba. I really enjoyed walking tonight. It was about -23 with a light breeze and light snow. The University Campus only has about 40 residents right now so there was nobody outside. Further, the snowplows are idle which means that the snow is just resting on the ground. I enjoyed a very peaceful walk.

Move Complete – No Internet In My New Room

While, I am going to now see if my blogware and webserver are compatible for pre-posting. I have created a bunch of automated “Picture of the Day” posts for the next couple of days. I will have internet access just not the same amount of access that I am used to. I will not be connected 24/7 like I have been since October.

To get internet, I have to travel 45mins including 12 minutes of walking outside to go to the Medical campus. U of M is the only doctoral University in Canada to close all it libraries on campus. Luckily for U of M, Maclean’s does not actually look at residences, food or library hours when ranking Universities. Of course, this would not hurt U of M cause they are already the worst Doctoral University in Canada for Maclean’s ratings.
Just had to get a rant in.
